The Culver City Rollerdrome was a popular roller-skating rink on Washington Place, on the site of what is now Tellefson Park. Opened in 1928, the Rollerdrome served generations of Culver City residents as a place for recreational skating, lessons, socializing and community events. The rink featured organized skating programs, instructors and live organ music, and became a familiar gathering place for local young people and families.

The Rollerdrome operated for more than four decades before closing around 1970. The site was later converted into Tellefson Park, and the Culver City Historical Society installed a historic marker there commemorating the rink and its role in local recreational life. Its history also reflects a less positive part of Culver City’s past: in 1950, Black musician Sonny Reed and members of his group were denied admission because of their race, an incident later documented in the city’s historical context study.
